Productive weekend follow-up

30 07 2016

I made 13 quilt tops on my annual quilting retreat with my friends. I’ve now quilted them all, and have donated some to the Community Quilts program (Community Quilts 280, 281, 282, 283, 284, and 285).

The others I’ll either give as gifts or list for sale on my Etsy store in the next few days. Below are the ones I’ve kept for these purposes.

Community Quilt 285

30 07 2016

This was one of the quilt tops I made on our quilt retreat weekend and donated to the Community Quilts program. They supplied the batting and backing fabric — I did the rest. In keeping with some of the floral fabrics, I did a variation on the open headband motif, adding ‘petals’ to the large arcs.

Community Quilt 284

30 07 2016

This was one of the quilt tops I made on our quilt retreat weekend and donated to the Community Quilts program. They supplied the batting and backing fabric — I did the rest. To add contrast, I quilted it with an orange thread, using my favourite open headband motif.

Community Quilt 283

30 07 2016

This was one of the quilt tops I made on our quilt retreat weekend and donated to the Community Quilts program. They supplied the batting and backing fabric — I did the rest. I followed the design of the various fabrics when quilting each panel.

Community Quilt 282

30 07 2016

This was one of the quilt tops I made on our quilt retreat weekend and donated to the Community Quilts program. They supplied the batting and backing fabric — I did the rest. In keeping with several of the fabrics, I quilted each block with golden stars.

Community Quilt 281

30 07 2016

Another small baby quilt likely to go to the state mortuary or the maternity hospital. Again, a simple stipple to hold the layers together was all that was required.

Community Quilt 280

30 07 2016

I made these two small quilt tops on my quilt retreat weekend. As they will likely go to the state mortuary for stillborn babies, only a simple flannel backing and simple stitching enough to hold the layers together was required.

Community Quilt 279

30 07 2016

I stitched large spirals to contrast with the geometric shapes in this quilt, using a variegated thread in shades of beige through to terracotta.

A small scrappy quilt, stitched with a meandering stipple in a variegated thread.

Another big quilt, with lots of ‘busy’ fabrics. This time I stitched a large open headband motif, using a variegated red, white, and blue thread.
