How to quilt this quilt? After stitching in the ditch along all seams, I tackled the small floral squares, stitching a fluid crosshatch in them. For the larger floral squares, I stitched free-form eight-petalled flowers, repeating this motif in the setting triangles. I left all the plain coloured sashing strips unquilted, and echo stitched a half inch inside the border.

• Top: Fil-Tec Glide ‘Pink’ (40 wt, trilobal polyester, colour 70189);  Fil-Tec Glide ‘Linen’ (40 wt, trilobal polyester, colour 10WG1)
• Bottom: Fil-Tec Magna Glide Classic pre-wound bobbin (white)
